Membership
Our core events, including our monthly meetings, karaoke, game nights, crafts, trivia, and more, are open to all young adults ages 18 to 35, whether or not you’re a member. Guests pay a small cover at the door, so you can come out, meet people, and see what MPYAA is all about before committing to anything. Our community events and volunteer projects, like concerts, free movie nights, and neighborhood cleanups, are open to everyone regardless of age or membership.
If you find yourself coming back, Core Membership is the better deal. One $40 annual payment covers admission to our regular events for the entire program year, so it quickly pays for itself compared with paying a cover each time. Your dues also go directly toward supporting MPYAA, a 501(c)(4) community service club, helping us keep events affordable, grow our volunteer projects, and serve Marine Park and southern Brooklyn.
Core Membership
$40/year
For young adults ages 18–35
Core Members get free admission to our regular events all year, access to member-only events, and a vote on membership matters. Members can also run for office, serve on the Board, and chair committees, and take part in everything from social nights and concerts to service projects and environmental initiatives.
In return, members pay annual dues, follow our Code of Conduct, and complete at least one volunteer or service project each program year, with proof of completion.
Meet the Board
The Board is MPYAA’s elected leadership team, responsible for guiding the organization in keeping with its mission. Board members plan and run our events and programs, manage the organization’s finances, keep its records, build partnerships with local groups and city agencies, and make sure MPYAA serves its members and the wider community responsibly. Core Members in good standing are eligible to run for a seat.
Sam Daniele
President and Co-Founder
Sam Daniele is the President and Co-Founder of the Marine Park Young Adults Association. He helped establish MPYAA to create opportunities for young adults to connect, develop leadership skills, serve their community, and become more involved in their neighborhoods.
Professionally, Sam works in cybersecurity as an Information Security Analyst specializing in identity and access management. He is also a member of Liberty Kiwanis, an Eagle Scout, and an NYC Parks Super Steward Care Captain.
Taylor Fischer
First Vice President
Taylor Fischer serves as First Vice President of MPYAA and enjoys helping create meaningful experiences for young adults in the community. Outside of the organization, she works as an assistant teacher at an early childhood center in Park Slope, where she supports children as they learn and grow.
Taylor is also an artist who enjoys illustration and exploring creative projects. She is always looking for new ways to express herself and bring ideas to life.
Connor Whelan
Second Vice President
Connor Whelan serves as Second Vice President of MPYAA and helps prepare for events such as movie nights, karaoke nights, and other community gatherings. He enjoys contributing behind the scenes and helping create welcoming experiences for members and attendees.
Outside of his involvement with MPYAA, Connor is a talented musician and composer. He brings creativity, enthusiasm, and a willingness to help to his role on the Board.
Danielle Levine
Secretary
Danielle Levine serves as Secretary of MPYAA and is passionate about helping people form friendships, build connections, and advocate for themselves. Outside of the organization, she works as an office assistant at a nonprofit that helps people with disabilities find employment.
Danielle has traveled to Albany to advocate for employment opportunities and the rights of people with disabilities. She is proud to bring her commitment to inclusion, advocacy, and community service to MPYAA.
Vincent Sinatra
Co-Treasurer
Vincent Sinatra serves as Co-Treasurer of MPYAA and has been a friend of President and Co-Founder Sam Daniele since high school. He brings professional experience in information technology, desktop support, logistics, and operations.
Vincent uses his technical knowledge, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities to support the organization. His longstanding connection to MPYAA’s leadership and commitment to its continued growth make him a valued member of the Board.
Abdur-Rehman Butt
Co-Treasurer
Abdur-Rehman Butt serves as Co-Treasurer of MPYAA and is dedicated to bringing young adults together across the community. In his role, he helps manage the organization’s finances and promote fiscal responsibility in support of its mission.
Abdur also contributes his creative abilities to MPYAA’s visual identity and public presence. His combination of financial oversight, creativity, and community spirit makes him an important member of the Board.
Jenna Colleran
Chief of Staff
Jenna Colleran serves as Chief of Staff of MPYAA and is from Breezy Point. She has experience volunteering with camps, schools, and clubs, where she has helped organize events and guide others through activities and responsibilities.
Jenna aspires to become an early childhood teacher, a career she has dreamed of pursuing from a young age. She looks forward to welcoming community members and helping make MPYAA’s events organized, enjoyable, and successful.
